A Short Trip

I had an incredibly short dream where I attended E3, but the location reminded me of having a carnival or bake sale at an elementary school. Nothing looked super hyped and was like the entire convention was being run by 2nd graders. I had to pay for my entry fee using my debit card and got a bag of goodies, but the weird detail about the transaction was that my debit card was this slick black color and my mind associated it with lots of money. Oddly enough, I went to the convention with the partner of freddiew, Brandon Laatsch. He seemed like a nice guy in  my dream.

The earliest dream I recall from last night was a pretty simple one. I was outside in a modern city, climbing and leaping across rooftops in an almost super-human fashion. There was complete freedom in my movement and I envisioned myself as wearing the typical assassin white from the many Assassin’s Creed games. While I was jumping from building to building, I eventually ran out of tall structures to jump to and ended up overlooking a pleasant-looking plaza. It was then that I felt the sun on my left, and I looked up to the sky realizing that the sun shouldn’t be there. I shouldn’t be running to wherever I needed to go because it was WAY too early in the morning. I must not have checked the time before I set off.

Not sure on how it transitioned, but I made it to a dark, mostly empty movie theatre. There were maybe a handful of people there, but the ones I needed to meet where in the back rows. Turns out I was meeting my little brother Weston there, but the 2nd person was somebody I haven’t really thought of in years. Sitting near Weston was Teri, my dad’s ex girlfriend from when I was still in my teens. She was not a good person, and I felt extremely uncomfortable. I don’t quite understand why Weston was there, or why Teri would be involved, but I removed myself from the situation and decided to hang out with my buddy Donut.

Donut wanted to invite me over to watch me play Halo, because he was curious about the mechanics of the game. He picked me up and we drove through town. The important detail here is that we weren’t in Arizona. We were somewhere green, surrounded by bodies of water. It felt… north of here, but as I haven’t lived near anywhere cool or with water in a long time I couldn’t say what it resembled. Anyway, we made it to his apartment complex (definitely a made up complex) and he was reversing real quick into his garage. I knew he was reversing too quickly, so it was no surprise to me when he scraped alongside the other car into the garage and caused some minor damage. Classic Donut style :P

“Don’t worry, that car is mine,” he said as we got out of his Mazda.

I didn’t recognize the other car, so I looked confused.

“Oh wait, no it isn’t. Crap”

I think we were confronted by the owner, but that encounter was overshadowed by the strange Indian neighbor Donut had. I have never seen this guy in my life but he decided he wanted to hang with us and see the arcade cabinet that Donut was building. We were both uncomfortable and trying to politely decline, but he kind of forced his way in into the apartment after us. Donut’s wife was incredibly welcoming to him, but only because she is nice.

Before Donut and I had a chance to actually play some video games, there was a news report (or some sort of broadcast) that alerted us to an alien invasion on Earth. Some live video feed came in, and it was pretty clear that the aliens who were attacking were the Covenant (from the Halo franchise.) Turns out that their first target on our planet was a house where a Girl I Know lives. I felt the need to go after her.

Instead of getting back in Donut’s car, Optimus Prime showed up. Technically, Jetwing Optimus Prime, because we didn’t drive, he FLEW us to the conflict. I am not sure of the logistics of it all, but there were some intense aerial battles and a distinct swooping motion that resulted in the rescue of the Girl I Know. It was really intense, but Prime did this crazy barrel roll landing where his Jetwing  armor kinda just unwrapped from around him and turned into his “ring” trailer base from Dark of the Moon. He released all 3 of us safely, and there was an feeling of victory despite overwhelming odds.

Then I woke up.

My dreams were incredibly random last night. This could be the result of being sick and taking some off-brand nyquil, but I’m not sure.

The setting was definitely medieval fantasy. Very dark, but all the light had that kind of cheesy 90′s green color you would see in a made-for-tv horror movie for kids. Many, many different characters were present, but their identities are kind of obscured visually. The only two I remember for certain were Tyrion from Game of Thrones and Snape from Harry Potter. There was a sense of fear throughout the entire castle, as there was some sort of purple-skinned supervillain killing everybody one by one. I remember seeing the bodies hanging inside the closets and thinking this man needed to be stopped.

This is where there was a change in perspective that I am not sure where I was in the dream. I knew that it had come down to the final confrontation in the courtyard of the castle (near a well of sorts) but I could not tell if I was the hero or if I was an observer. Superman arrives at the scene, but instead of his normal attire his body consisted of prosthetic limbs and other mechanical parts. The fight between Superman and the villain was short, as expected, and everybody was saved.

At this point there was celebration and people were coming out from within the castle to talk about the event and rejoice, or what have you. I was there, but was I Superman? I couldn’t tell. The way I was the center of attention for a little bit seems to suggest it. Batman came up to me and introduced Ra’s Al Gul, and they began to discuss how Superman was able to come back from the dead and save everybody.

“But Ra’s, don’t you have to like… be born as a child when you are resurrected in the lazerus pits?” I asked.
“Yes, that would explain the prosthetic limbs,” he replied.

I was content with that answer but felt cold. This is when I realized I was standing next to a dark-haired girl who I have been infatuated with. This was also, of course, the time my subconscious decided I should be naked. I remember curling up to cover myself, feeling the cold stone on my knees, muttering apologies.  I was so embarrassed I couldn’t look her in the face.

The dream transitions to a dinner table setting with friends. The people are not the same group. They are my close friends though, and we’re all discussing what it means to die as a hero and how it was possible for Superman to come back. I remember bringing up to everybody that Spiderman had died, and they were all kind of shocked. Remember when Batman died? Oh yeah he came back a couple years later.

I decided that I wanted to return to the castle, so I pulled out my droid and google mapped its location (This is the coolest I felt in the dream) but I didn’t brag to my friends that I was able to find it so easily. I leave the dinner party and exit into a downtown setting. It’s raining, but not really that cold. You know, Arizona summer rain I guess. As I’m walking towards my car somebody shouts for me to wait. I turn around and there’s a blonde girl in a trenchcoat approaching me.  She wanted to thank me for saving those people at the castle before I left, but she also didn’t want me to catch a cold. She took off the trenchcoat and was completely naked underneath, and she wrapped it around me. She was shivering, and I was dumbfounded. She asked why I wasn’t shielding her from the rain while we just stood there, and I apologized like an idiot and opened the coat to cover her with a hug. She went up for a kiss, and it was over too quickly. She complained I had onion breath. I told her it was just morning breath.

Then I woke up.

I fell back asleep for a few moments and had a quick dream involving my cats hunting down what Reece and I THOUGHT were mice in our aparment. Turns out they were miniture ferrets.

Level 1.

I was going to get preachy here on this first post, but decided not to. There is a lot I can say about the status of the internet and its obsession with social media and instant information. I think it’s a great thing, but I kind of want to take a detour. Gotta get off the highway and just find a place where I can drop my thoughts without watching them get swept away and lost to an endless stream of information. This will be it. This will be my corner. Here you will find (mostly) uncensored dreams, a peak into my mind, my imagination, and hopefully plenty of robots.

I’m looking forward to it.
