The earliest dream I recall from last night was a pretty simple one. I was outside in a modern city, climbing and leaping across rooftops in an almost super-human fashion. There was complete freedom in my movement and I envisioned myself as wearing the typical assassin white from the many Assassin’s Creed games. While I was jumping from building to building, I eventually ran out of tall structures to jump to and ended up overlooking a pleasant-looking plaza. It was then that I felt the sun on my left, and I looked up to the sky realizing that the sun shouldn’t be there. I shouldn’t be running to wherever I needed to go because it was WAY too early in the morning. I must not have checked the time before I set off.
Not sure on how it transitioned, but I made it to a dark, mostly empty movie theatre. There were maybe a handful of people there, but the ones I needed to meet where in the back rows. Turns out I was meeting my little brother Weston there, but the 2nd person was somebody I haven’t really thought of in years. Sitting near Weston was Teri, my dad’s ex girlfriend from when I was still in my teens. She was not a good person, and I felt extremely uncomfortable. I don’t quite understand why Weston was there, or why Teri would be involved, but I removed myself from the situation and decided to hang out with my buddy Donut.
Donut wanted to invite me over to watch me play Halo, because he was curious about the mechanics of the game. He picked me up and we drove through town. The important detail here is that we weren’t in Arizona. We were somewhere green, surrounded by bodies of water. It felt… north of here, but as I haven’t lived near anywhere cool or with water in a long time I couldn’t say what it resembled. Anyway, we made it to his apartment complex (definitely a made up complex) and he was reversing real quick into his garage. I knew he was reversing too quickly, so it was no surprise to me when he scraped alongside the other car into the garage and caused some minor damage. Classic Donut style :P
“Don’t worry, that car is mine,” he said as we got out of his Mazda.
I didn’t recognize the other car, so I looked confused.
“Oh wait, no it isn’t. Crap”
I think we were confronted by the owner, but that encounter was overshadowed by the strange Indian neighbor Donut had. I have never seen this guy in my life but he decided he wanted to hang with us and see the arcade cabinet that Donut was building. We were both uncomfortable and trying to politely decline, but he kind of forced his way in into the apartment after us. Donut’s wife was incredibly welcoming to him, but only because she is nice.
Before Donut and I had a chance to actually play some video games, there was a news report (or some sort of broadcast) that alerted us to an alien invasion on Earth. Some live video feed came in, and it was pretty clear that the aliens who were attacking were the Covenant (from the Halo franchise.) Turns out that their first target on our planet was a house where a Girl I Know lives. I felt the need to go after her.
Instead of getting back in Donut’s car, Optimus Prime showed up. Technically, Jetwing Optimus Prime, because we didn’t drive, he FLEW us to the conflict. I am not sure of the logistics of it all, but there were some intense aerial battles and a distinct swooping motion that resulted in the rescue of the Girl I Know. It was really intense, but Prime did this crazy barrel roll landing where his Jetwing armor kinda just unwrapped from around him and turned into his “ring” trailer base from Dark of the Moon. He released all 3 of us safely, and there was an feeling of victory despite overwhelming odds.
Then I woke up.
